Trusting Jesus

What does "Trusting Jesus" mean?

In most world religions, people are taught that they must take certain actions to be in good standing with God. Catholics have sacraments, Muslims have the five pillars, Buddhists have four spiritual laws, Mormons strive for worthiness and a place in the highest heaven, and Hindus aim to build karma and reincarnate to a higher level.

However, the Bible presents something radically different. It emphasizes that being right with God is not about what we do but trusting in what Jesus Christ has already done for us. Jesus lived a righteous life on our behalf, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and rose from the dead to offer eternal life to all who trust in Him.

Trusting Jesus means turning away from relying on ourselves and our own efforts to relying on Him and His work for us. Eternal life is a gift paid for by Jesus. I receive it by trusting Jesus instead of my own way.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

1 Peter 2:24

…who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9–10

…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
